The Kossmann Dejong LogoThe Royal Air Force Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of Kossmann.dejong as exhibition designers for an upcoming exhibition to mark the Centenary of the RAF in 2018.

The Royal Air Force will be celebrating its Centenary in 2018. To mark this momentous international event, the Royal Air Force Museum is undertaking an ambitious programme with the support of a grant of £4,494,100 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to transform our London site into a world-class National Museum that engages, inspires and connects everyone with the RAF story through exploration of its people and collections.

Thanks to National Lottery players, a series of new exhibitions exploring the first hundred years of the RAF and its future will sit at the heart of our re-landscaped site. An expanded, more diverse audience will enjoy a richer engagement with our site, collections and people-focused interpretation.

Kossmann.dejong will be working with the Museum’s exhibition development team on an exhibition about the possibilities for the future of the RAF, with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) learning. Kossmann.dejong will provide 3D and 2D design services as well as advising on the interactive exhibit development and visitor experiences being created for this amazing new gallery that will open in 2018.

Kossmann.dejong is an international design studio that focuses on exhibition and interior architecture. A connection between content and imagination is what characterises Kossmann.dejong’s design approach. By starting from the content and using of a variety of media, the studio creates layered, narrative spaces with a unique form. The aim is to design meaningful environments that inspire visitors, appeal emotionally and provide lasting experiences.

“We are thrilled and honoured to design this exhibition and collaborate with such a renowned institution as the RAF Museum”, says Mark Dejong, founder and Creative Director of Kossmann.dejong. “As the future is a subject of debate, our aim is to enable the visitor to join this discussion and to develop a future vision. We will turn the exhibition space into a laboratory-like environment and challenge visitors to take on the role of researcher.”

Sarah Dellar, Exhibitions Project Manager, RAF Museum, said: “The Royal Air Force Museum are proud to be working with Kossmann.dejong on the design of an incredible, immersive, new exhibition that invites visitors to find out and debate about the RAF’s history of innovation and how technological development will shape the Air Force of the future.”
