Battle of Britain Hall Project - 1st July onwards
As the refurbishment of the Battle of Britain Hall's roof and electrcal systems nears completion we will start opening up parts of the Hall again to the public. This means that for certain dates part of the Hall will be closed.
Area Closures
From 1st June until 5th July the Battle of Britain Hall will be closed in its entirety whilst we fit a glass wall to the East Gable and replace the West Gable.
Our Finest Hour, the Hall's sound and light show, and the Battle of Britain maze will re-open to the public on 6th July.
The Sunderland Hall, at the East end of the Hall, and the Hall's Upper Mezzanine will remain closed whilst we fit a glass wall to this end of the Hall.
Currently, this refurbishment project is scheduled to be completed by 24th July, subject to favourable weather conditions. Updates will be posted on this page, should the project require more time. We would therefore suggest that you continue to visit this page during the course of July when planning your journey.
During this building work the Museum will endeavour to open the Grahame White Factory between 10:00 and 18:00 hours each day.

Christmas and Museum Closures
The Museum will be closed from Christmas Eve until Boxing Day and on New Year's Day during the Festive Season. It will be open from 27 - 31 December and from 2 January 2010 before closing again from 10th - 15th January 2010 inclusive for annual maintenance and repairs.
Please note that whilst every effort is made to keep the entire Museum open during scheduled opening times, is not always possible for health and safety reasons. We are not always able to give advance notification of any closures. We apologise for an inconvenience that this may cause. The most likely areas to be affected by closures are:
- The Upper Galleries in the Historic Hangars
- The Mezzanine floor in the Battle of Britain Hall (including the Sunderland Flying Boat)
Admissions Policy
- Children under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times during their visit.
- For admission purposes and for your safety, we will record your admission. Please let us have your postcode for marketing purposes.
- We reserve the right to refuse admission to the Museum at any time.
- Personal Photography and filming is permitted, those with commercial requirement please visit the Commercial Photography for more information.
- Some charging may be necessary for Holiday Activities.
