Terms & Conditions for Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary Photo Competition
By submitting your images to the Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary Photo Competition you are agreeing to the following Terms and Conditions.
Rules
- If you wish to supply a photo or photos to enter the competition we would ask that you give it a description so that it can be put into context for our online visitors i.e. when using our electronic form, please place a description below each photograph submitted using a maximum of 200 characters.
- Please tell us where and when the image was taken. Again this will help our online visitors understand your story better.
- When writing about your photograph we would ask that if you can, you try to explain any technical terms that you use, for our younger online visitors. Bad language used in the paragraph's descriptive text will not be tolerated.
- Images entered can be of any size or resolution but given that the winning photographs will be displayed in the Royal Air Force Museum’s Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary Photo category of the Royal Air Force Photographic Competition 2010 Exhibition we would prefer for high resolution images of 300 dpi and a maximum of 3MB to be submitted in a jpeg format.
- To show people the type of images that are currently being taken by the public we may post your image onto the website. This does not mean that your image has been shortlisted for a prize or that it may win a prize, just that the moderator feels that it is a strong image which may inspire people to take further photographs. Images will be judged in accordance with points 17 & 18 of the Terms and Conditions below.
- To be read in conjunction with points 6 and 7 of the competition Terms and Conditions: Entrants must have model release of any images of identifiable personnel in their photographs. This must be in a written format and available to the Museum on request.
Important - Terms and Conditions
Please read these carefully: by submitting you photo(s) and description(s) to the Royal Air Force Museum’s Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary Photo Competition you are giving the Royal Air Force Museum permission to display your material on its website and to use them for publicity as it deems fit.
- Each entrant is able to submit a maximum of 2 (two) images to the competition.
- Each entrant can only submit work that is original and which has been taken by the entrant. By submitting your image to the competition you are stating that you are the copyright holder of that image and that you are not submitting another person's work or infringing another's person's copyright.
- The original file of your photograph must be retained for reference purposes to verify that the photograph is your own. Failure of the ability to prove that the photograph submitted is your original work will lead to automatic expulsion from the competition.
- The competition is open to anyone resident in the U.K. Employees of the Royal Air Force Museum, their agents and contractors or any such person's family are not permitted to enter. Due to copyright restrictions professional Royal Air Force Photographers are not permitted to enter. The Royal Air Force Museum reserves the right to verify the eligibility of participants.
- Entrants must obtain permission from any persons identifiable in their photographs prior to entering their photo into the competition.
- Photographs of children (people aged 16 and under) will only be accepted with explicit written consent from parents and guardians. It is the photographer's responsibility to obtain this consent, proof of which will be requested should your image be shortlisted for judging.
- The Royal Air Force Museum reserves the right to edit the text supplied by you in your description for the purposes of brevity and clarity. Bad language used in the paragraph's descriptive text will not be tolerated.
- By entering your photograph into the competition you confirm that it does not contain any obscene or defamatory content or material.
- By entering your photographs and descriptive text into the competition, in respect of each photograph, you grant the Royal Air Force Museum an exclusive licence to use your images and text through the transfer of copyright.
This will enable the Museum to display your photograph on the Royal Air Force Museum's website and/or from the Royal Air Force's Museum computer network; to use your image for the promotion of the Royal Air Force Photographic Competition 2010 Exhibition and the Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary Photo Competition; and to use your image for any publicity purposes as the Museum judges to be a fit and proper use of your image.
- The Royal Air Force Museum shall not be obliged to display your story or photographs and shall not have any liability to you for any loss of publicity, reputation, or enhancement of reputation.
- Your personal information will only be used and, where necessary, disclosed to third parties for the purposes of running the online exhibition and associated competition in accordance with the Royal Air Force Museum's Privacy Policy.
e.g: If the Royal Air Force Museum is contacted by a researcher or journalist requesting further information about yourself, we will contact you first, asking permission to release your details to such an individual.
- The competition will run from 1st June until 30th of September. Only photographs received by the Competition Moderator by midnight on the 30th of September will be entered into the competition.
- Judging will take place during the first week in November with the winners of the Adult and Children Categories informed in writing of their success. Their prizes will be presented to them at the opening of the exhibition in January 2011 - date to be confirmed.
- The winners will also be announced on the Royal Air Force Museum's website and in associated press releases about the competition.
- The competition will consist of two categories 1 for children and 1 for adults. The children's category is open to children from the age of 4 to 16. The adult category is open to individuals aged 17 and above. All entrants must be UK residents.
- The prize for the children's category will be £200 worth of products of the winner's choice from the Museum shop, together with an invitation to attend the opening ceremony of the Royal Air Force Photographic Competition 2010 Exhibition. The prize for the adult category will be a Blackberry Storm as donated by Vodafone U.K, together with an invitation to attend the opening ceremony of the Royal Air Force Photographic Competition 2010 Exhibition. Please note, the Royal Air Force Museum will not provide accommodation or travel expenses as part of the Prize Package.
- Judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. No cash alternative available.
- The Royal Air Force Museum reserves the right to withdraw or amend this competition at any time without prior notice.
- The Royal Air Force Museum reserves the right to disqualify any entry at its absolute discretion.
- By entering your photo(s) and description to the Royal Air Force Museum Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary Photo Competition you are deemed to have accepted the competition's rules and terms and conditions.
