The Far Eastern flier's friend

I was born on 25th December 1925, and became the lifetime companion of Frederick Cooper. During the Second World War Fred joined the RAF as a Flight Engineer, and served on Liberator bombers in the Far East.

Fred gave me my blue flying overalls and flying boots, and carried me with him when he went flying.

Fred used to be teased by his crewmates for having a teddy. One day, Fred forgot to pick me up before he left for a flight. When his crewmates found out, they made the pilot stop the plane on the runway so Fred could get out and collect me!

From then on I was the lucky mascot of the whole crew, and we completed our tour of operations and returned home without mishap.
