Summer of Spies Workshop - 29.08.2018

29 August 2018

Brixo Brick Tablet Academy

After the success of the summer of spy workshops in 2017, the RAF Museum are working with Tablet Academy to offer fantastic technology workshops. The use of technology is becoming as fundamental to a child's development, as reading and writing. Working with Tablet Academy, we are offering children the chance to develop their ability to use technology in a safe and exciting way.

Building Secret Spy Cars with Lego Mindstorms and Brixo

Timings: Morning session 9:00am - 12:00pm, Full day 9:00am - 4:00pm
Cost: £20.00 per morning, £30.00 for the full day
Maximum capacity: 30 participants
This workshop is for strictly 8 to 15 year olds

Participants will build and program their own vehicles to drive around a track and solve challenges. Mindstorms uses a block-based coding language similar to Scratch, which children may be familiar with. No previous experience is required. Brixo is a special type of brick which can be used to create electric circuits built into LEGO Education.

Morning Workshop:Workshops at Cosford
Participants will be taught tips and tricks to create moving vehicles with added modi?cations using sensors and motors

Afternoon Workshop:
Participants will compete in small groups to build the most reliable and effective vehicle using multiple techniques discovered during the morning session.

Unfortunately parents and guardians will not be able to take Workshops at Cosford
part in the workshops.  However, should parents and guardians wish to stay to observe during the workshops this may be possible, but only one parent per booking due to space limitations.

Refreshments and lunch will not be provided, please ensure children staying for the whole day bring a packed lunch with them.

There is also a Christmas themed technology workshop on 8 December 2018.
