Published on: 21 July 2017

The RAF Museum is pleased to announce that for the second year running we are sponsoring a series of academic prizes designed to inspire and reward high-quality research by up and incoming scholars in the field of air power studies. Three prizes are awarded annually to an undergraduate, Masters and doctoral candidate in recognition of their work. The prize is granted on the recommendation of a selection panel consisting of members of its Research Board. The selection panel consists of the following members:

Chair: Ian Thirsk (Royal Air Force Museum)
Dr Ross Mahoney (Royal Air Force Museum)
Professor Richard Overy (University of Exeter)
Air Commodore (ret’d) Dr Peter Gray (University of Birmingham)
Sebastian Cox (Head, Air Historical Branch)
Professor David Edgerton (King’s College London)
Professor Richard Morris (University of Huddersfield)

Earlier in 2017, the RAF Museum awarded its academic prizes to those who received awards from our 2016 scheme. The recipients of these prizes and the title of their research were:

The Royal Air Force Museum Undergraduate Prize in Air Power Studies

The Royal Air Force Museum Masters Prize in Air Power Studies
Alan Jackson: An investigation of United Kingdom government decisions between 1945 and 1955 related to strategic bombing, (University of Birmingham)
