BOOK A SLEEPOVER
Youngsters who dream of becoming pilots now have the exciting opportunity to spend an evening sleeping under the wings of real aircraft in the ‘Pillows and Pilots’ sleepover, held at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford.
Suitable for youth groups aged 7-15 years, youngsters will have exclusive after dark access to the explore the Museum’s National Cold War Exhibition, home to the mighty Vulcan bomber, the vertically suspended Lightning and even a section of the Berlin Wall!
After checking in and setting up camp, groups will enjoy an evening packed full of activities including a robot war challenge, launching K’Nex rocket cars across the hangar floor and making parachutes to drop from a balcony aiming for the target below with lots of prizes up for grabs.
Of course, no sleepover would be complete without a late-night movie so organisers have lined up the prefect themed film ‘Night at the Museum’ to enjoy with popcorn and all the usual movie snacks inside the 200 seat cold war bunker style auditorium.
Following a fun packed evening, youngsters will settle down for the night, nestled amongst the aircraft and vehicles on display. A continental breakfast will be served the following morning, plus there will be early bird access to the Museum Shop and Test Flight hangar including the Fun ‘n’ Flight interactive area, with a 50% discount voucher for a ride on the 4D Experience. As a special treat in the morning there will be access on board the Hawker Hunter F Mk.4 cockpit and the McDonnell Douglas Phantom FG1 front cockpit.
The first of two ‘Pillows and Pilots’ sleepover dates takes place later this month with 200 children and group leaders enjoying exclusive after hours access. A second sleepover is planned for 28 March (girl groups only) and any groups interested in bringing along their members to enjoy this unique, once in a lifetime experience are advised to book soon to avoid disappointment.
