SEN Schools

We can tailor our school activities for Special Educational Needs

Sensory Story

A multi-sensory story following a day in the life of a pilot. Explore a range of artefacts, including flight clothing, and try on RAF uniforms at the end.

Hands-on with the Second World War

Immerse your students in the Second World War by exploring a range of fascinating objects, listening to 1940s music and experiencing an air raid. As a finishing touch, try on RAF uniforms for a great class photo.

We can deliver amended workshops, from our school activity programme, for groups with Special Educational Needs.

Each activity caters for a maximum of 10 pupils (with no maximum number of teachers and assistants) and runs for between 30 and 45 minutes. Workshops cost £30 per session and run Tuesday - Friday, 10.15am, 11.15am, 12.15pm and 1.15pm.

Cancellation fees may apply - please see our FAQ page for details.

If you would like to book a session, please use our online booking form. If you would like to discuss your booking or for further information, please contact the team on 0208 358 4896 or learning-london@rafmuseum.org .

NEW! Outreach Session

'Flying through time' is our new outreach session which can be delivered at your school.

Aeroplanes have been around for just over 100 years - what has changed in that time? In this session, students have the opportunity to explore and compare old and new objects relating to flight, experiment with materials used in aircraft constructions and try to navigate a route using old and new methods.

Dates: Available on Mondays during term time (in your school)

Time: The workshop lasts up to one hour (this can be run twice during a morning or afternoon)

Cost: £60 for a half day (morning or afternoon)

Offered to schools in the Greater London area. Schools outside this area can book to attend the workshop at the Museum (available Tuesday to Friday).

NEW! Second World War Discovery Box

Bring your Second World War topic to life with our new loan box which includes helmets, a gas mask, a lucky mascot and much more. The box also contains notes for teachers with suggestions for activities. Free to borrow for up to three weeks.

If you would like any further information or would like to book our discovery box or outreach, please email learning-london@rafmuseum.org or call 0208 358 4896.
