Head on over to the RAF museum for some fun activities this October Half Term! Some familiar favourites are back including Robot Races and RC Helicopters, or try our new activities such as the LEGO Berlin Wall Workshop!
Zoom Through History Spy-Themed Activities
Join our historic reenactors in a spy-themed mystery hunt! Participants will use a series of clues to worm out the secret Cold War Spy! You will be assisted by our Military Intelligence Agents to unpack a series of clues around our historic Home Front room. Use your initiative and focus to eliminate characters and find the spy!
Location: H4 (Home Front room)
Date: 31 October to 3 November
Timings: 45 minute sessions at 11:00, 12:00, 2:00 & 3:00

LEGO Berlin Wall Workshop
The fall of the Berlin Wall marked the end of the Cold War. The wall and its iconic graffiti now acts as a symbol of peace. In this activity, participants are given a LEGO base plate to design, which they can then add to our museum graffiti wall as a sign of hope and peace. This activity makes for a fun day out for LEGO enthusiasts and history enthusiasts alike!

RC Helicopter Cold War Cargo Drop
Calling all aspiring helicopter pilots!
This October break, the RAF Museum will be offering the opportunity for all to hone their flying skills through its remote control helicopter Cold War Cargo Drop. Participants will tackle a series of obstacles to successfully drop precious cargo to civilians in East Berlin. Flights will be timed, and whoever saves civilians in the quickest time will win a prize!

Cold War Rocket Launchers!
Calling all aspiring rocket scientists! Head on over to the Halton Gallery in Hangar 3 this October Half Term to build your rocket and launch it into space!

Movie Screening: Spies in Disguise (2019)
Come on down to the Hangar 3 lecture theatre for a fun-filled screening of the family film Spies in Disguise! Will Smith voices secret agent Lance Sterling who is transformed into a pigeon by his tech officer Walt (voiced by Tom Holland) in a bid to stop the bad guys and save the world! Enjoy a break from exploring our aircraft and sit back and relax and enjoy some quality time with the family.

Robot Races!
The Dash Robots are back and ready for action. Are you? Come and drive a bot around the Hangar 6 Mezzanine and even teach your bot how to wink and dance!

Aircraft Access: Lightning
Calling all aircraft enthusiasts!
Sign up to be one of the few who get to experience over the rope access to the Lightning! Buy your ticket now to gain access to the RAF’s first supersonic aircraft. A ticket will allow you to view the cockpit (not get inside) of this true Cold War defence aircraft. First released in 1959 and retiring in 1988, the Lightning F6 played a major role in intercepting unidentified aircraft, during its extensive campaigns in Germany and the Middle East.
Please note: Due to health and safety, children under 11 will not be allowed participate in this activity.

Aircraft Access: Buccaneer
Calling all aircraft enthusiasts!
Sign up to be one of the few who get to access the cockpit of the Buccaneer! Designed in the 1950s at the beginning of the Cold War, the Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer represents the technical advances of aircraft during this period. Sign up now to sit inside its cockpit and learn about how this aircraft helped revolutionise post Second World War warfare.

Cold War and Spies week activities are aimed at children aged 4 to 11 years old, however, aviators of any age are welcome to join in!
