RAF Museum Website Scoops Two International Awards
Published on: 09 December 2014
It was announced today that the RAF Museum and its web developer Itineris Ltd have achieved two Outstanding Achievement Accreditations in this year’s Interactive Media Awards™ for their work on the Royal Air Force Museum's Website.
The website won awards in both the highly competitive ‘Travel/Tourism’ and ‘Museum’ categories which both had over 250 entries.
Each application was scored on five separate criteria (0-100) consisting of Design, Content, Feature Functionality, Usability and Standards Compliance.
The website, www.rafmuseum.org, was recognised for surpassing the standards of excellence that comprise the web’s most professional work.
The judging panel, consisting of pioneering industry leading organisations such as Microsoft, Verizon, New York Times and Ogilvy & Mather, scored the site 476/500 which was enough to scoop both of the awards ahead of the other contenders.
Paul Hudson – Head of Marketing at RAF Museum, said:
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Itineris for their efforts developing the site. Our website is our primary marketing tool for both museum sites at London and Cosford. Ensuring we deliver a faultless user experience combined with valuable, relevant content is paramount in driving physical visitors to our exhibits.”
The awards announcement co-incides with recent unveiling of the new ‘First World War in the Air’ exhibition at the London site which was officially opened by HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Matt Horsup – Head of Digital Marketing at Itineris adds:
“We hope the award is just the start of things to come in 2015. Digital presence is now more important than ever so to be recognised by our peers as industry leading is a fantastic achievement."
