"The discovery of the Dornier is of international importance. Please support the RAF Museum's appeal to save this unique aircraft as a tribute to the loss of life on both sides of the Battle of Britain."
The RAF Museum has identified the remains of an intact WW2 Dornier Do-17 bomber in the shallows off the Kent coast. We need your help to save this unique aircraft.
Shot down on 26th August 1940 at the height of the Battle of Britain, the Dornier's historical importance is immense: this is the world's only surviving Do-17, a German aircraft type that played a crucial role in the Battle.
We will be raising the aircraft in Spring 2011. Following specialist preservation the Dornier will be exhibited as a tribute to the loss of life on both sides of the conflict.
We need your help to raise and conserve this unique aircraft.
The RAF Museum is a charity and we rely on donations. We have raised 60% of the project costs and need your support to raise the remaining £230,000 to complete the conservation of the Dornier 17.

Your contribution, however large or small, will help save this remarkable aircraft for future generations.
Please become an appeal supporter today.
Donate £100 or more and you will receive a certificate of thanks and regular updates on the progress of the conservation.
Make a donation of £1,000 or more and you will be invited to an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Dornier 17 at our specialist conservation Centre in Cosford, Staffordshire.
