Our Vision for the Future

The Royal Air Force Museum is a registered charity which relies on the support of generous donors to keep our Museum's message fresh and relevant to each generation.

We believe that the Royal Air Force traditions and ethos are worth preserving as a model of courage, service and duty. Since the Museum was founded, more than 10 million visitors have read accounts of sacrifice and bravery from the brief history of the Royal Air Force. Tens of thousands of schoolchildren each year are inspired by the Museum in the magic of flight and the heroism of those called to be tested. It is our intention to continue telling these stories and inspiring future generations to the culture of selfless duty and the thrill of aviation.

Moving into the twenty-first century, there will be new stories to tell and old ones to refresh for each generation. You can help us to keep these alive with your gift.

Making a Gift in your Will.

If you share our commitment to the RAF's values and our concern for the future, you may wish to consider leaving a gift to the Royal Air Force Museum in your Will.

There are different types of gifts you can make and you should really take advice from your solicitor when you next update your Will. We offer a couple of forms of words you can suggest to your solicitor.

Jargon Buster

Specific gift

You can allocate a specific item or amount of money to us, known as a specific legacy. This can be in the form of property or shares; items such as medals or a flying log book; or a specific amount of money.

If you wish to donate an historical item to the Museum in your Will, check our collecting policies on the Donate an Artefact page.

Residuary gift

This means that your chosen charity will get a proportion (or all) of whatever is left over when you have allocated all the bequests to your loved ones.

Reversionary gift

If you are concerned for the provision of your loved ones after you are gone, speak to your solicitor about a reversionary legacy which enables a gift of assets, such as property, to be used during their lifetime.
