Apprenticeship and Skills Pathways Manager

The Museum is looking for an Apprenticeship and Skills Pathways Manager.

Location: Midlands

Salary: £31,500

Employment Contract Type: Fixed term - 15 months - Full Time

Closing Date: 14/07/2023 10:00 am

Interview Date: 25/07/2023

About the role

The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Midlands. Our purpose is to share the RAF story, past, present and future – using the stories of its people and our collections in order to engage, inform and inspire. Our Vision is to inspire everyone with the RAF story – the people who shape it and its place in our lives.

We are looking to recruit an Apprenticeship and Skills Pathways Manager as part of our HR and Volunteering team, to support the development of the Museum’s Skills Pathways Programme (apprenticeships, work experience and insight experiences) which provides opportunities and career pathways for young people and under-represented groups. This is a new and exciting opportunity that is a key part of our Inspiring People Strategy.

The key responsibilities of this role include developing a museum wide Skills Pathways Programme, to work with internal teams to further develop our existing offer. The postholder will establish strong links with local agencies to identify new opportunities and coordinate the recruitment and engagement of apprentices and work experience candidates by ensuring that the Museum is able to attract and recruit a diverse pool of candidates.

This is a fantastic development opportunity for someone who comes from a learning background and is willing to develop their skills and knowledge in Skills Pathways programme development. Previous experience and knowledge of managing apprenticeship schemes is not essential, however you will be someone who is eager to learn and develop in this area. You will be a self-starter. Excellent communication skills are a must along with a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion as well as the ability to influence and build relationships with a range of stakeholders.

You will join the Museum at a very exciting time as we embark on a transformational project for our Midlands site, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The post will be based at our Midlands site with travel between the Museum’s sites as and when required.
