The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Midlands. Our purpose is to share the RAF story, past, present and future – using the stories of its people and our collections in order to engage, inform and inspire. We are looking for a passionate, commercial and experienced Operations Manager to work within our Retail and Admissions team. You will be responsible for managing the Retail team and Retail operations at our Midlands site. You will ensure the provision of excellent customer service to the Museum’s visitors, whilst maximising revenue and profits from our various income streams. These streams comprise of the Museum’s Admissions point, gift shop, online shop, Flight Zone (simulators) and pay to use car park.

The ideal candidate will have commercial acumen, a flair for retail, experience of front of house and team management, IT skills (including epos) and a positive ‘can-do’ personality. This role necessitates the ability to juggle multiple tasks with attention to detail, requiring a highly organised and flexible individual. You will directly manage the E-commerce fulfilment team and the Retail front of house team via the Retail Supervisors. Including the Retail Operations Manager, there are 18 people in the Midlands Retail team.

Reporting to the Head of Retail & Admissions, this role is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled operations manager who thrives working in a commercial environment made up of various income streams.

The role will be based at our Midlands site.
