The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Midlands. Our purpose is to share the RAF story, past, present and future – using the stories of its people and our collections in order to engage, inform and inspire. Our Vision is to inspire everyone with the RAF story – the people who shape it and its place in our lives.
We have two public sites (London and Midlands) and a stored collection (Stafford). Our trading company and active fundraising supplement Grant in Aid which comes through the Ministry of Defence.
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Visitor Experience Supervisor who can inspire those around them, is a team player and who will promote collaborative working, is agile in their approach and willing to reach out to new and existing partners.
You should be passionate about customer service excellence as you will be taking a leading role in establishing our customer service and site standards. You will also take a lead role in developing tours and talks at the Museum and support the Visitor Experience Team in developing their knowledge of the RAF and the RAF Story.
The ideal candidate will have proven supervisory experience in a visitor or customer facing role. Ideally this experience will have been gained in the heritage or leisure industry, preferably within a Museum. You will put the visitor at the center of your thinking and have confidence in your instinct and initiative.
The Museum is going through a period of evolution as it adapts to the changes expectations of its audiences and looks to attract new audiences to ensure a prosperous future. You will help promote and drive forward these changes, so experience in managing change and promoting new ways of working and business initiatives will be required.
As a Visitor Experience Supervisor, you will have a variety of responsibilities which will include:
• Managing a team of paid Visitor Experience Assistants and Front of House volunteers.
• Driving customer service excellence across the Museum.
• Supporting the Museum’s commercial activities.
• Ensuring a secure and safe environment is maintained across the site.
• Supporting public and private events held at the Museum.
• Developing networks and relationships within the Museum and the heritage sector to help develop the Visitor Experience team.
• Ensuring that the Museums vision to inspire everyone with the RAF story – the people who shape it and it is place in our lives. Is central to what we do.
The post will be based at our London site.
