We are delighted to share the news that a new footpath linking Cosford train station to the RAF Museum Midlands is due to be installed.
Work will commence on Monday 22 June and is scheduled to be completed by Sunday 12 July.
The new footpath is much needed and will help improve access and safety for commuters and visitors travelling by public transport who currently must walk along the road with no safe refuge.
New street lighting, along with directional and promotional signage to the Museum will also be installed along the route as part of the work. When the road re-opens, Worcester Road will have a reduced speed limit of 30mph.
The works will require a full road closure on Worcester Road for the duration of the work, with only pedestrian access from the station to the Museum. There will also be traffic restrictions on Long Lane, with access restricted to properties, businesses, HGV’s, coaches and emergency vehicles only.
A short, signed diversion route directing traffic via Neachley Lane to the Museum will be in place for the duration of the closure. Please see below:

Visitors travelling by car – please allow extra time for your commute to the Museum via the short diversion along Neachley Lane.
Visitors travelling by train – trains are unaffected by the work, and you will be able to walk from the station to the Museum via a pedestrian walkway.
This project is the result of a successful partnership between the RAF Museum, RAF Cosford, Shropshire Council, West Midlands Rail and WSP.
