New footpath opens between Cosford Railway Station & Museum

25 July 2026

Visitors arriving by train can now enjoy a much-improved journey to the RAF Museum Midlands, thanks to the opening of a new footpath linking Cosford railway station with the Museum.

The new footpath has transformed the fifteen-minute walk between the station and the Museum, providing a safer and more accessible route for visitors travelling by train.

The pathway is already fully useable and, in late September, RAF-themed street lighting and Museum wayfinding will be installed, creating an even more welcoming arrival experience that will immerse visitors in the RAF story from the moment they step off the train.

The project has been delivered through a committed partnership between Shropshire Council, the RAF Museum, the West Midlands Rail Executive, West Midlands Railway, Royal Air Force Cosford, WSP and Kier, making sustainable travel to the Museum easier than ever.

Travel by train to the RAF Museum Midlands this summer to see the world’s oldest Spitfire, explore incredible RAF stories and enjoy activities for all the family.

The Museum is open daily from 10.00am and entry is free. Visit rafmuseum.org/midlands to find out more.
