The Chinook Challenge

Wokka you waiting for?

Take the Chinook Challenge

Registration for the Chinook Challenge is now closed. Thank you to everyone who has taken part.

For 2023 the RAF Museum is delighted to announce a brand-new Fundraising Challenge! We will be kicking off the season with the Chinook Challenge.

You can choose your distance and aim for 100KM, 200KM or 400KM.  Whether you decide to run, walk, cycle or swim your way to the finish line we will be there to cheer you on. This is a virtual challenge so you can take part anywhere in the world.

The best thing is that you can take your time and go at your own pace. There is no end date! The last date you have to enter the challenge is the 15 December 2023.

By entering and fundraising for the RAF Museum we can continue to share the incredible stories of our Royal Air Force. We will celebrate and commemorate the stories of those who have flown on Chinook’s like Bravo November, which is now on display at RAF Museum Midlands.

Arguably the most famous aircraft the RAF has flown in the last 40 years, Bravo November is one of the original 30 Chinooks ordered by the RAF for its heavy lifting capability. She was the sole surviving Chinook flown by the RAF during the Falklands campaign. Four of her pilots have been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC), a remarkable achievement for one aircraft, that brings with it amazing stories of courage and bravery.

How does a Fundraising Challenge work?

Once you sign up to take part, you will automatically be registered with a fundraising page. This will enable you to track your distances, share your adventures with friends on Facebook and fundraise for us.

You don't have to fundraise for us, just entering the challenge is a big way of supporting the Museum.

If you’d like one of our limited-edition Fundraising Chinook Challenge T-shirts, then pledge to raise £50 for us. If you hit £100 then we will send you a one-of-a-kind water bottle as well.

Once you hit your target distance, we will send you your medal within two weeks. No waiting around!*

The Chinook Challenge will run all year. We will close entries on the 15 December 2023.

*Please note, for those of you completing the Challenge before the end of January we will send our first medals out on the last week of January so you might have to wait a little longer.
