Schools FAQs

Each school party visit has their own designated timetable to meet the requirements of students and teachers. Our Access and Learning team liaise directly with schools, however we have included some of the frequently asked questions listed below.

Please download an example of our site map and our risk assessment for more information on what to expect from your visit.

How do I make a booking for my school group?

Please complete our online booking form and a member of the Access and Learning Team will get back to you within 3 working days.

What time should we arrive onsite for our visit?

Prior to your visit, you will be sent a copy of your timetable detailing your workshop times. It is your responsibility to ensure that you arrive in plenty of time for the start of your workshop.

We cannot guarantee the delivery of your booked workshops if you do not arrive on time or inform us of any issues getting to site on time.

On the day of your visit, you can contact us on 01902 376208 if you are experiencing any issues that may affect your arrival.

Where do we go when we arrive?

On arrival, the organising teacher/adult needs to report to a member of staff in the Visitor Centre. A member of the Access and Learning Team will come out to greet you. Please note that the Museum opens at 10.00am. If your party arrives before this time, please wait in your coach or by the entrance to the Visitor Centre until 10.00am as we cannot allow entrance into the Museum before this time.

Are all parts of the Museum accessible to wheelchair users?

Yes, all parts of the Museum are accessible to wheelchair users. It is helpful if you inform us prior to your visit if there are wheelchair users within your party.

Will we have a personal guide throughout the day?

Your chosen activity is led by Museum staff. Visits to other parts of the Museum are led by the teachers themselves, but there are members of staff available in all buildings if you have questions.

Should we adhere to the timetable at all times?

The timetable is flexible; however there are some elements that must be adhered to at the specified times e.g. your workshop and lunch space. These will typically be highlighted in a different colour to show that they are static.

Is there a designated lunch area?

You will be allocated a dedicated lunch space. If the weather is suitable, and you would prefer to eat outside, we also have outdoor picnic areas on site.

Please note, there are no facilities for storing lunches and bags, so groups are advised to carry these around site or leave on transport.

How do I pay?

Payment for your workshops will be via invoice after your visit. If you would like an alternative method of payment, please make a note on your booking form.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your booking but give less than two weeks’ (10 working days) notice, you will be charged in full. Likewise, if your school fails to arrive on the booked date of your activity, you will also be charged in full. If you need to change your date or cancel your booking entirely, please do email us at  learning-midlands@rafmuseum.org or call us on 01902 376208.

What do I do if my question isn’t on the list?
