Welcome to the ‘Learning’ pages of our website. Our award winning Access & Learning staff use our unique and fascinating collection to offer a wide range of innovative, fun and enjoyable activities to a variety of audiences.
All our activities support the National Curriculum and can be adapted to suit the specific needs of visiting groups, including those with mobility and sensory impairments and other special needs.
We work on site with nurseries, schools, colleges universities and home educated groups. We also offer off site sessions to these and other audiences including residential care homes and hospitals.
We advise all staff interested in making a visit to the Museum to contact the team as soon as possible, so that the needs of each school can be discussed. It is not recommended to make a school visit without making a prior booking regardless of the content of the day.
We can organise ’bespoke’ activity days for schools working with teachers to create a special day for their students. In all cases, it is expected that students under the age of 16 years are accompanied by an adult at all times whilst on site.
New to the museum is an upgrade to the weather station installed in the Fun 'n' Flight interactive gallery. A touch screen kiosk enables visitors to view current and previous data and includes statistics which can support National Curriculum programmes of study.
