Resources

You may wish to prepare your students for a visit to the Museum using this visual story.

There is also a sound trail available which you can access using a mobile phone or tablet. The trail encourages users to listen to a sound and then locate the object in the exhibitions.

NEW Sensory Stories

We have created some new Sensory Stories for use in schools, all with a Royal Air Force Museum link. You can choose from:

Aircraft factory - find out what was involved in building aircraft during the First World War

Noor Inayat Khan - the true story of a brave Muslim woman working undercover in occupied France during the Second World War

Trevor Edwards - the story of a fast jet pilot

Windrush - roughly one third of the Windrush’s passengers were RAF personnel returning from leave or veterans re-joining the service.

SEN Discovery Box

Our specially created SEN handling box (complete with activity suggestions) features a range of exciting real and replica artefacts for your students to explore at school.

Gave them great sense of belonging to the wider community and they enjoyed themselves a lot.
The workshop was very informative and interactive, perfect for our students with Additional Educational Needs. Our facilitator... was calm... kind and accommodating of all the questions and needs of our students.
