The RAF Museum is pleased to announce it has received a very generous gift from the State of Kuwait to support its RAF Centenary Programme.
The gift was presented to the Museum by the Kuwaiti ambassador to the United Kingdom HE Khaled Al Duwaisan at a ceremony held at the Kuwaiti Embassy.
In attendance on behalf of the Museum, were Maggie Appleton (RAF Museum CEO); Lord Trenchard (RAF Museum supporter and grandson of the first Viscount Trenchard who was instrumental in the establishment of the Royal Air Force); Tony Edwards and Keith Ifould (RAF Museum Fundraising Ambassadors).
HE Khaled Al Duwaisan, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the United Kingdom: “It is a pleasure for me to sponsor this ceremony to announce the State of Kuwait’s donation to the Royal Air Force Museum, which will contribute to its expansion project. This event is an embodiment of the depth of the bilateral relations and the ties of cooperation between Kuwait and the friendly United Kingdom which has spanned for almost 100 years, during which the United Kingdom and the RAF stood by the State of Kuwait and proved the British determination to preserve the security and independence of the State of Kuwait.”
Maggie Appleton, RAF Museum CEO: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this gift from the State of Kuwait. The enduring relationship between Kuwait and the RAF stretches back to 1919 and weaves a golden thread to inspire our visitors today and in the future. The Museum is proud to share the stories of the RAF and its close partners around the world and we look forward to commemorating and celebrating them in our transformed Museum next year.”
