On his wedding day, in 1923, #Prince Albert, the future King George VI and future father of the #Queen, wore an #RAF Full Dress Uniform including its #helmet which was given a rather unusual nick-name due to its very distinctive shape!

Last Saturday three new incredible #exhibitions that form part of our multi-million RAF Centenary Transformation Programme were finally open to the public.

King George VI’s Full Dress Uniform Helmet is on display in our new exhibition ‘RAF Stories: The First 100 Year 1918-2018’. View it and decide whether its shape justifies its nick-name.
