Chocks away! Get ready for the Virtual Spitfire 10K!

The Virtual Spitfire 10K is back! Tailor your race experience to fit your schedule and abilities – a great opportunity for runners from all over the UK, and across the world to run in honour of a Battle of Britain pilot and support the RAF Museum.

After the incredible feedback and support in 2021, we are excited to announce that the Virtual Spitfire 10K will take place again in 2022 between 27 August and 15 September. You are invited to be part of this incredible event and challenge yourself whilst supporting the RAF Museum. A race for everyone – whether you are a regular runner or would like to try something new!

In 2021, more than 700 runners signed up for the Virtual Spitfire 10K. Our runners joined us from the UK, Europe, South America, the USA, New Zealand, India and the UAE and helped us share the stories of bravery and ingenuity of those who fought during the Battle of Britain, and for posting your own inspiring stories and photos.

The virtual race allows you to tailor the racing experience to fit your schedule and ability. You can choose to start the race on race day at 10:00am for a real race experience; or run the entire distance at some point over the weekend. If running 10K is not for you, why not split the distance into a few runs; or maybe go on a long walk, row or a cycle. You have until 15 September, the Battle of Britain Day to complete the challenge.

Run with The Few!

Our Roll of Honour cards are one of the most popular elements of the race. They enable you to carry the name of a Battle of Britain serviceman with you on your run. You will receive your Roll of Honour Card with your race pack in early August, so that you have enough time to research the incredible life of ‘your’ serviceman and share their stories.

Whether you talk to your family and friends or share their stories on social media – we want you to get involved and keep their memory alive!

Spitfire 10K

Raise £100 and receive your Spitfire 10K running top for free!

Help us further honour those who defended our skies during the Battle of Britain by fundraising for the Museum. Pledge to raise £100 and you will receive your Spitfire 10K running top for free. With your help, we are hoping to reach a fundraising target, in addition to your entry, of £10,000 - £1,000 for every kilometre you will be running!

£10,000 could provide our Access and Learning team with the resources to deliver three hundred Battle of Britain workshops to over 10,000 children, ensuring the stories, like those of the pilots whose name you will be wearing on your Roll of Honour card on race day, are shared with future generations.

If you would like to join our amazing team of fundraisers, please select this option when you register.
