Armed Forces Covenant
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
The Royal Air Force Museum is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award by the Ministry of Defence, in recognition of its outstanding support for the Armed Forces community.
This honour reflects the Museum’s continued dedication to supporting those who serve, both through inclusive employment practices and the powerful storytelling embedded in our exhibitions and educational programmes. The Gold Award is the highest accolade granted under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) and acknowledges organisations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to the Covenant’s values.
“We are honoured to receive confirmation from the Ministry of Defence that the RAF Museum will be awarded the Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award. This recognition reflects our long-standing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community, both within our workforce and through the stories we share with our visitors every day. It is a privilege to play a role in preserving and promoting the legacy of the Royal Air Force, and we remain steadfast in our dedication to upholding the values of the Covenant. On behalf of the Museum, I extend my sincere thanks to all those who have helped us achieve this distinction.”
Maggie Appleton MBE, Chief Executive Officer, RAF Museum
Defence sits at the heart of our organisation. The Royal Air Force has shaped our nation and our society and has influenced how we live our lives today through its impact on world events, society and technology. As an organisation, the RAF Museum has chosen to sign a voluntary pledge in order to show our support to our employees who choose to serve the nation as Reservists and belong to the Armed Forces Community.
