This is a Type R1830-900, fourteen-cylinder, air-cooled radial engine with a single-stage supercharger. Bore 5.5ins, Stroke 5.5ins. Total displacement 1830cubic inches. Weight 1413lbs. 1200 hp for take-off at 2700rpm. This engine was fitted to the Grumman Wildcat, Douglas DC3 (Dakota), Short Sunderland and some B24 Liberators used by the Royal Air Force.
