The RAF in the Midlands: History and Legacy Workshop

Published on: 23 February 2024

On Thursday 25 April 2024 between 10am and 3pm, the RAF Museum will be holding a workshop discussing the history and legacy of the RAF in the Midlands. The day is open to all, and hopes to support research for all by all.

As part of the day, you will hear from our Midlands Bursary Holders as they discuss the important research they have been doing over the last year into the strong connections between the Midlands, the RAF and wider aviation industry.

After the morning session exploring the local and regional history research, there will be an opportunity for you to help the RAF Museum to share its story in the Midlands. We want to know from you the ways in which the Museum can make its story in the Midlands, as well as items within its collection, more accessible to the public. To conclude the day, a series of guest speakers will discuss their research and there will be exclusive updates about the Midlands Development Programme.

A full running order will be shared nearer the event with guests.

Location
This workshop will be hosted in-person at the RAF Museum’s Midlands site in the Lecture Theatre. Attendance in-person is free but registration is required as a free buffet lunch will be provided.
The RAF Museum’s Inspiring Everyone: RAF Museum Midlands Development Programme
The RAF Museum’s Inspiring Everyone: RAF Museum Midlands Development Programme has been made possible thanks to a generous investment from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The Midlands Bursary Holders form part of this programme and are intended to foster research relevant to the Museum’s local audience in the Midlands which will deepen understanding of the RAF story. The Museum is developing plans further and ground works will commence in 2025.
