RAF Museum Hendon Pageant
02 June - 04 June 2022
The RAF Museum Hendon Pageant is back! Join us for a fun-filled festival of storytelling, living history and activities for the whole family.
This festival will be one for the whole family and will bring the charm and wonder of the historic air pageants back to the Museum. There will be a vintage fairground, living history, messy play, face painting, music, aircraft access, Airfix and much more! We will be celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee so why not have a cream tea in our pop-up tearoom and join the party.
Tickets and Entry
The festival is free to enter, but some of our activities have a small charge and will vary from £1 – £6; just head to the ticket office when you arrive and pick up your tokens. You can use these across the festival in any of the activities.
You will need to book festival entry tickets before you arrive, so head to the website by clicking the Book Now button above. You can also pre-book your tokens and cream tea before you arrive, so you just need to collect and enjoy them on the day.
Please note, your festival entry also gets you entry to the Museum so no additional admission ticket is needed.
Dates and Times
The festival opens on the following days from 10.00am – 4.00pm:
Thursday 2 June
Friday 3 June
Saturday 4 June
NEW! Flypast is confirmed. We are delighted to announce that we will have a very special Jubilee flypast from the BBMF on Thursday. It’s subject to change and weather conditions, but it’s one you don’t want to miss.
This year Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
Make a crown, sit inside our royal helicopters, and take our Jubilee trail to explore our royal history.
This traditional hand-painted fairground will include a coconut shy, high striker, swing boats and carousel. There will be a charge for these activities.
Join us for free storytelling in the story tent – we will have a new storyteller everyday so you can be whisked away on magical adventures.
On Thursday fly away to faraway lands with larger-than-life characters in Wendy’s stories from East and West Africa. Everyone is welcome to join in the stories with music, movement and colourful props.
On Friday join author and storyteller Pomme for a fabulous fairy tale. She tells fairy tales about magical flight from around the world. From flying horses to magic carpets, from giant birds who carry people to human beings with wings!
On Saturday let Xanthe Gresham Knight carry you away on flights of fancy with airborne stories from around the world, from phoenixes to flying ships!
You can meet our reenactors at their Living History displays and have a go at bomb disposal or take part in our scramble game.
Messy play, face painting, art activities and more for families to get involved in. Why not try out the Pedal Planes- miniature versions of our aircraft that just need pedal power to get them going. There will be a charge for these activities.
Enjoy live music whilst you enjoy your picnic. The traditional bandstand will see performances from The Barn-Ettes, the RAF Cadet Band and more.
Sit in our Phantom or Buccaneer and discover the story of these aircraft from the cockpit. Spaces are limited and charged at £10.00 per person. Access to both cockpits is suitable for 8+ only.
Step inside the Royal Wessex where our royal family once travelled in style.
If you’d like to discover more about the RAF story, then join our expert tour guides on our special tours. Spaces are limited so we recommend you book before you arrive.
Four generations of the Royal Family have served or trained with the RAF and so we have created a Royal Trail for families highlights some of these great stories. Pick up your free copy on arrival at Hangar 1 or download a digital version to your smart device.
