Cobham and the King

An enormous, exuberant crowd gathered at Croydon Aerodrome, London to greet Alan Cobham at the end of his momentous South Africa flight. He then received word that King George V wanted to see him at Buckingham Palace.

Without delay, he quickly flew off again with his wife Gladys to Stag Lane Aerodrome. From there the Cobhams left for the Palace.

Upon Alan Cobham’s arrival the King exclaimed, ‘Congratulations, Cobham, magnificent show; now sit down and tell me all about it’.
