Cobham arrives at South Africa

On 2 February 1926, Alan Cobham arrived at Pretoria, South Africa to a fantastic reception from the South African people.

Cobham then flew on to Johannesburg, South Africa with an escort from the South African Air Force, where he met a crowd of over 5,000 jubilant people waiting to congratulate him.

Whilst in Johannesburg, Cobham employed two secretaries and worked 18 hours a day to complete all of the tasks his celebrity status demanded.

Cobham then flew on to Cape Town to another wonderful reception and knew that his message of the importance of civil aviation had been taken to heart by the South African people.
