Cobham’s King’s Cup Victory

Alan Cobham had entered the first King’s Cup air race on 8 September 1922 coming third in his de Havilland D.H. 9B at Croydon aerodrome, London on 9 September 1922.

Not to be deterred, he entered again the following year on 13 July 1923 finishing second in his de Havilland D.H. 9J at Hendon aerodrome, London on 14 July 1923.

Finally, on his third attempt, he won the magnificent King’s Cup trophy at Lee-on-Solent, England in his de Havilland D.H.50 on 12 August 1924.
