Imperial Airways begins a commercial passenger service between Croydon and Karachi in India. The route is via Switzerland, Italy and Egypt and the journey takes seven days. Three different types of aircraft are used on various stages, an Armstrong Whitworth Argosy, a Shorts Calcutta and a Handley Page Hercules.

Lord Thompson of Cardington is appointed Secretary for Air again.
