The Ministry of Defence announces that the Grob G115 Tutor has been selected
as the replacement for the Bulldog with University Air Squadrons.

16/17 December
Operation Desert Fox commences, with cruise missile attacks and airstrikes
conducted by United States Navy (USN) carrier-borne aircraft, on targets
in Iraq. Royal Air Force (RAF) Panavia Tornado GR1s operating from Ali
al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, subsequently attack military targets near
Basra. Desert Fox is undertaken in an effort to fulfil two objectives:
to degrade Iraq’s ability to manufacture and use weapons of mass destruction
and to diminish the military threat posed by Iraq towards its neighbours.
