A distance record of 3,166 kilometre (1,967 miles) in a straight line, is established by a Breguet 19 flown by Captain Ludovic Arrachart and Captain Henri Lemaître.

12 March
The first Fokker FVIIa makes its maiden flight.

13 April
Henry Ford establishes the first regular American freight service. The first flight is from Detroit to Michigan to Chicago.

1 May
The Imperial Japanese Army Air Corps is formed.

3 September
United States Navy (USN) airship Shenandoah breaks in two while flying over Caldwell in Ohio. The weather was squally at the time and fourteen men were killed in the wreck.
