Our reading room in London. Facilities available by appointment.

Our Reading Room at RAF Museum London is open for research by appointment during the following hours:

Wednesday 10am-4pm 
Thursday 10am-1pm 
Friday 1pm-4pm 

Researchers wishing to view material should make an appointment by telephone or   e-mail well in advance of their proposed visit. Please explain the nature of your research so that we can determine how best to help you. Please also read the Reading room regulations before your visit. 


Copying charges

These charges include VAT.

Black and white photocopies, and prints from microfilm/microfiche:

  • A4                    42p per sheet
  • A3                    84p per sheet
  • A2                    £3.84 per sheet

Colour photocopies:

  • A4                    £1.92 per sheet
  • A3                    £3.84 per sheet

Copying of record cards by staff is limited to 15 cards per customer per month; there is no limit for self-service copying by customers.

Readers may use their own cameras to copy material; there is a one-off charge of £7.20 per day.

Complete copies of manuals, microfilms or documents:            

Estimates will be provided on a case by case basis. A 50% deposit will be required on any order.


Supply of digital files for non-commercial use

Existing files/images

A charge will be made in order to cover costs limited to 25 files/images per customer per month

Creating files/images

£12 per file or image, limited to 10 files/images per customer per month

Requests from commercial bodies incur a surcharge of £24, and reproduction fees may also apply.

PLEASE NOTE: The priority service is currently suspended until the end of June 2018 due to the Museum’s RAF Centenary Programme commitments

(Requests will be handled on a case by case basis, but delivery would typically be within 5 to 10 days, depending on the department’s workload)
